Britain is facing a hidden children’s mental health emergency.
Government cuts to the Adoption and Special Guardianship Support Fund (ASGSF) are stripping away critical therapy for some of the most traumatised children in the country.
These children have already endured neglect, abuse, or the loss of their birth families. Now, with funding slashed by 40%, adoptive and kinship families are left struggling to access the support their children desperately need to heal.
Just last weekend, families, therapists, and advocates marched in protest, demanding the government reverse these cuts. This isn’t just about private heartbreak — it’s a national issue, with far-reaching consequences for schools, mental health services, and society as a whole.
When trauma goes untreated, it doesn’t fade — it deepens. And the cost will not only be emotional, but social and economic.
