Not the same - Ollie's story

The story is designed to help children cope with the loss of their home, toys and friends, which can be a very traumatic and upsetting event for a child. Ollie, the hero of the book, is a little turtle who gets caught in a tornado – a metaphor for the chaos children often experience when they have to leave their homes behind. He finds himself in another neighbourhood, where he eventually finds a new home and new friends. Since stories are such a large part of childhood, and children usually have very vivid and creative imaginations, I hoped that the children would identify with the story and become engrossed in the therapeutic metaphors developed specifically for them. In this way, the story could help solve interpersonal problems and promote children’s mental health.

Ollie's Activity book

After publishing my storybook ‘Not the Same’, I thought it would be great to create an activity book to go along with it to help children identify and process difficult feelings in a fun way. The book includes activities such as mazes, colouring pages, word searches, and many more fun games.
